Catching the train to explore the Germany Christmas Markets by Rail is very easy. We researched our options (2023 Christmas) and it worked out cheaper by a few hundred dollars to buy individual train tickets versus the Eurail line global pass.

It is a very busy period being Christmas, so I would recommend booking in advance for better pricing and to confirm your seat. I would also recommend paying a little extra to secure a seat, as sometimes you miss out or have to move around a lot if you just have a floating ticket. Early morning trains were better for us and less busy. Some trains do not have proper luggage areas, so pack wisely, backpacks are easier.
